Yes, there is such a thing as penile cancer, although it is relatively rare, and certainly not one of the cancers that is talked about much in the media. For the 1,000 or so patients a year who develop penile cancer, it is a serious problem what can result in the surgical removal of the tip of the penis.
The odd few patients have been treated experimentally in the UK and around the world, but as ever it is the question of funding that limits the development of PDT for it.
That is why this charity exists, and even a donation of £50,000 would fund a medical team to get the research and trial work underway.
As with some of the other cancers and conditions noted here, this work will have to wait its turn until some of our other trials have been fully funded.
However, if you know of someone interested in making a donation of £10,000 or so, we can be sure to direct the funds to the most appropriate research teams in the UK or North America to get work started.
